Semenawa Group Workshop

The workshop will be led by Yada, a renowned Shibari artist in Thailand, focusing on her approach to Semenawa. Yada Semenawa embodies the essence of “stillness” – the sensation of abandonment, the beauty of letting go, minimalism, and finding balance and peace amidst chaos. We will transition from floor work to suspension, combining elements of both brutality and gentleness. We encourage riggers and models to swtich roles to understand the perspective from each other better.

The workshop covers both floorwork and suspension.
Incl. Floor & Suspension
Rigger, model can switch
Price: 2600NT / pair

Instructor Info
Yada Keawburee aka.Yada.kinbaku Student of Yoi Yoshida. Shibari Artist & Sexual/Kink Education based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Yada began exploring Japanese rope bondage in 2015 and opened her own workshop under the name “Yada Kinbaku” to teach techniques in late 2018.

Yada’s teaching is based on her teacher in Japan, Yoi Yoshida, and is slightly customized to suit each person.

Yada believes that rope bondage is not just about tying someone up, but it’s also a way to communicate with a person through rope without saying any words, allowing oneself to sink deep into vulnerability.

Yada believes that it’s important for everyone to stay in touch with themselves and to confront any trauma they may have. By delving into the deepest parts of oneself, healing and feeling better become possible.

More from Yada…

What is semenawa?

SEMENAWA means literally translates as “Torture or Punishment Rope.” This type of rope bondage involves intense physical and psychological sensations that emphasize torment or suffering.

Where does this sadness and suffering come from?

For myself, as a philosophy student. Asking questions is a MUST. Me as a person and as a rigger, I feel guilty. Oh no, not for someone else. I actually feel guilty if I let my urge to release take power over me. I feel like I can be in better control because I am the rule-maker in the session, but I need it not to be too much. You might not feel free but, actually, are free, as long as you are in your own discipline.

What I have learned about Japanese (Eastern) culture and Thai (Southeast Asian) culture is that they are different, but they have something in common. I don’t think this class is for everyone. But, if this for you, please continue.

If I discipline someone who exchanges power with me, I need to be able to follow my own discipline, which is…

Be able to open my heart to that person – not 100% – but you have to be willing
Be able to talk and set intentions about our session and share the responsibility of risk together
Everything has to have mindfulness upfront because you don’t want to hurt the other person
I torture people because they need to get hurt. I didn’t torture people because I’m good at it and I enjoy it, but actually, I can be able to do all of this because another person exists, and our needs have to be met temporarily. Doing Semenawa makes me face myself, bare and sad.

The question is, why does this make us happy? Why do we do what we do?

Because we have to see our true selves, the ones no one would want, the ones where if someone really gets to know us, they will go away. We need to see that with our own body, with our fear and we feel something that gives us peace of mind.

The main class of my Semenawa “ stillness “is to balance your chaos and peace. To not over-do and to do a little to feel it clearly, to feel and experience it, not to end it, to find more to feel more.

In my Semenawa class, I will bring you fully into somatic practice that would be useful for everyone.

My Semenawa class starts from basic to floor play and suspension. I will show and explain all details, why I use different techniques and why it works for me. I will show a few simple ties to mix with your own best harness. The main thing in Semenawa will be focus on finding the way to communicate with your partner with verbal or non verbal communication. With rope, body, pain and fear. And this is the fun part that makes Semenawa become something so popular. You don’t need to be exactly like me or anyone else because my class is about you as a person who you want people to see and feel from you.
